The Canadian Centre for Research on Literacy is happy to announce the publication of a new test authored by L.M. Phillips, D.V. Hayward, & S.P. Norris (2016). Test of Early Language and Literacy. Scarborough, ON: Nelson.
The Test of Early Language and Literacy (TELL) is a comprehensive diagnostic assessment of language and literacy for children three to eight years of age with Canadian norms. TELL is designed to determine whether children are at risk of school failure and to identify areas of strength and weakness. TELL is evidence-based and built upon the latest research on language and literacy assessment in these areas. TELL is individually administered and contains the following eight main sections: Print Understanding, Letter Knowledge and Naming, Phonological Awareness, Oral Vocabulary, Oral Narratives, Word Reading, Oral Reading and Reading Comprehension, and Written Spelling and Writing.
Alphabet Stage authored by Linda M. Phillips and Denyse V. Hayward and illustrated by Nancy Nickolson is based on the best emergent literacy research. The book provides children with many opportunities to think about, learn, and remember English letter names and sounds as well as vocabulary development. Expected Publication Release: Spring 2017.
